Recalibrating field sensors for drift is an inspection problem before it is a data problem. ALS Global had monitoring cameras already pointed at water meters, and technicians driving out to read them.
We built a computer-vision model that reads the meter values directly from those camera images. The readings stay accurate without someone physically attending the site as often.
It is a good example of AI applied where it earns its place — automating a judgement call that previously needed a person to look at every case.
