Supporting men with prostate cancer
Prostate cancer is life changing for those diagnosed. Following treatment, men can often be left to deal with serious challenges around anxiety and depression.
Australian Prostate Cancer Research (APCR) was awarded a grant to develop an online post-treatment program to support men with prostate cancer.
APCR were looking for an engaging way to conduct their research. Alliance brought to life the concept of ‘the road ahead’ through user experience design, art direction and full system development.
The My Road Ahead journey has participants unlocking articles written by experts, videos and interactive exercises on a range of key topics. All of this was done within a fresh interface instilling a positive outlook with participants.
Being a research program, data gathering is central to the system. Researchers are able to build a detailed picture of the participants over time with profile building tools, interactive exercises, moderated forums and mood monitoring tools.
The My Road Ahead program offers a unique approach to gaining research participation and engagement. Based on feedback from the initial pilot of 65 participants, further improvements have been made. The research program is now underway, with the website gaining very positive feedback from participants.
