We’re a 35 person custom software development firm and have been in business for 15 years. We have a loyal and growing customer base consisting of mid tier corporate enterprises and funded startups. We value technical talent and pride ourselves on our smarts and our ability to help grow each other as professionals.

We are seeking an Agile Project manager to join our team. We offer a relaxed and flexible environment, with interesting projects and real career development opportunities.

The Role & Benefits

Your Responsibilities

Lead the Team – You’ll motivate and care for your team. You’ll be an example of clear communication, transparency and a desire to always add great value for clients.

We follow Agile processes, meaning you’ll play the role of Scrum Master, managing the rhythms of the business (e.g. sprints, retrospectives etc).

Specify Work – You’ll ensure a steady flow of well specified work for developers. You’ll be comfortable working closely with clients to understand and document their requirements.

Schedule, Budget & Expectations Management – You’ll schedule staff time and actively manage client budgets and expectations as work progresses.

Ensure Quality – You work to ensure that projects are delivered to a high quality including performing internal reviews.

What personal skills will I need?

Engage well with Clients & Developers – You’ll be able to build trust and create a rapport with both clients & developers.

Personal Ownership – You’ll  care that tasks and projects are completed and delivered to a high quality standard.

Technical Understanding (or Curiosity) – You’ll need sufficient technical knowledge (or the curiosity to obtain it) so that you can serve as the communication bridge between non-technical clients and developers.

Foresee Future Events – You’ll be able to see upcoming issues and find ways to mitigate risk.

Able to have Difficult Conversations – You’ll have the interpersonal skills and courage to have difficult conversations with staff and clients alike.

What will I be paid?

Package Range is 87 – 120K.

Base salary of 80K – 100K plus super and $60 / hour paid overtime.

Initial salary offer will be dependent on your degree of direct experience applying agile management processes to large software projects.

How does paid overtime work?

Yes, this is unusual. Everyone here gets automatic paid overtime. You’ll be expected to work a minimum 7 productive hours per day. If you do more, you’ll be paid overtime monthly.

For example, assume you work an average of 8 productive hours per day – you would earn $13,500 in overtime payments ($60 per hour x 1 hour per day x 5 days x 45 weeks at work per year).

Please note – overtime requests are rare.

Working with us

Alliance Software is a custom web application development business. We’re also the founder of two successful tech startups. We have an engaged customer base of mid-tier corporates and well funded startups.

The one common groan is that we require staff to fill in time cards via an online system. This lets us pay overtime and track time worked on projects.

What will I enjoy about the role?

We asked our current PM’s what they like about the role. Here’s their list:

  • Diversity of clients and projects
  • Good sized projects – large enough to be interesting but no red tape
  • Flexible work environment
  • Agile methodology
  • Adaptive workplace with challenging projects
  • Talented people (with a high staff retention rate)
  • Family-focused work environment
  • Great place to work
  • Fast growth and challenging projects
  • Strong culture – transparency & adding value
