Conservation Volunteers Australia

www.conservationvolunteers.com.au

We've worked closely with CVA on their various web projects for 6 years now. The current site facilitates conservation placements for thousands of volunteers annually.

Out of interest, check out the 'tell a friend' icon at the bottom of the site. We set this up as little more than a gimmick and to our surprise, it's been highly effective.

We've since used this technique with a number of other clients and each time, providing a good enough 'carrot' is offered to those who might make a referral, the system has worked very well.

David Hart Galleries

www.davidhartgalleries.com.au

Quite apart from being a great looking site, this web site is a key part of the gallery's highly successful marketing strategy. You see, the gallery faces the problem that many shops in tourism based regions face.

Customers often visited, commenting that they liked the gallery's art, but were unable to 'find that perfect piece', and so failed to make a purchase.

We solved this problem with a simple notification service. The way the service works is that it automatically emails clients each time an artwork relevant to their interest is added to the web site.

Staff in the galleries have been trained to offer this to potential buyers and the result is an increase in first time and repeat sales.

DLook Directory

www.dlook.com.au

DLook is a new entrant into the online business directory market place competing with the likes of Yellow Pages online and True Local. DLook represents one of our more notable development achievements.

For technically savvy readers, the system indexes over a million businesses, runs geographic searches over 2,871 codes and returns results in under two seconds. By using well optimised software and indexes we were able to achieve all this on a single server architecture. The system has continued to perform well under a significant weight of traffic.

The entire site was developed completely "in house" using freely available open source tools and is a tribute to the technical nous of our developers (thanks Steve & Liam).

All Regions Massage School

www.discovermassage.com.au

We undertook a rebuild of this site. Our aim was to simplify the process of booking into massage courses. We replaced a cumbersome shopping cart approach to bookings with a simple list of courses and a one page ordering form.

Behind the scenes we also implemented an intelligent email system designed to make managing a considerable database of prospects far easier. The site now allows the All Regions Massage School staff to quickly communicate with prospects and past students based on their geographic location and their previous training. The site allows Brian and his staff to send a targeted email to a select group of people in a matter of minutes.

Mount Avoca Winery

www.mountavoca.com

The feature I like about this site is the simplicity of its ordering system.

Rather than take people through a typical shopping cart environment, with dozens of clicks just to submit an order, this site presents one, clean ordering page, which showcases all the wines on offer and allows the customer to select the quantities required.

Mooloolaba Real Estate

www.mooloolabarealestate.com.au

Similar to the David Hart Galleries site, this uses a notification service to keep in regular contact with a large database of customers.

Also, the site is built to give the Mooloolaba Real Estate staff total content control.

Copywriting That Sells

www.copywritingthatsells.com.au

This is a great example of a highly effective, low budget site. With a total cost of well under $1500 including programming, layout, hosting and domain registration this site does exactly what it was designed to - generate new leads.

The site owner, Scott Bywater, uses his web-site to gather email addresses and makes use of an autoresponder to keep in regular contact with prospects. This method of attracting potential clients regularly brings in new jobs each week for Scott to quote on.

Global Change Group

www.globalchangegroup.com

I put this site in because it is a second example of a low cost site that looks great. The firm in question needed to ensure they maintained high credibility in the market place, so we simply focused on a basic site that looked great.

Interestingly, not long after the launch of the new site, Global Change Group was bought out by the global consulting firm, Deloitte's. We'd like to think the snazzy looking website helped with that.

Eastern Transport Register

www.etr.com.au

I'm almost embarrassed to put this site up as a sample, because the design isn't amazing (in fact, it's pretty basic) and there's not much for the public to see.

However, this is one of the sites I'm most proud of. It facilitates the sharing of vehicles (e.g. buses with hoists etc) among government and non-profit organisations working with elderly and disabled people.

Every month over 100 buses or other vehicles are shared between organisations. For example, where one organisation isn't using a bus for a weekend another one borrows it instead of having to pay for a commercial lease. The net result is that a lot of disadvantaged people in the community have access to trips and experiences they otherwise couldn't afford.

These organisations do the borrowing and lending online via an interactive booking database we created. I love it because it's simple to use and maintain.

Eastern Volunteer Resource Project

www.evrp.org.au

This is another government funded website that we're proud to be involved with. The site serves as a general resource to volunteers and community organisations that use volunteers in the eastern region of Melbourne.

The technically impressive component of the site is that it allows organisations seeking volunteers to electronically submit 'volunteer vacancies' via an automated process through to a central database, which then distributes them to volunteer recruitment centers. This electronic movement of data helps to save time, and reduces errors significantly.

Triplehill Accommodation Booking Service

www.triplehillabs.com.au

The folks at Triplehill take bookings for accommodation venues in the Macedon Ranges region. The site provides a simple interface for users to search for accommodation and request a booking.

In the 'back end' (the part that only Triplehill staff see), there's a complete booking management system. The software we've built gives Triplehill staff the ability to manage bookings from enquiries right through to arrival. It also provides automated financial management tools for billing and a set of reports for management to view and compare the sales performance of each property and staff member.

Obits - Australian Funeral Search

www.obits.com.au

Obits provides an Australia-wide directory of funerals, death notices and obituaries. It's been adopted by the major funeral providers across the nation and has the hallmarks of a highly successful site.

Again, the sophistication of the site is in the 'hidden' back end, which allows funeral directors to manage their funeral listings, and allows the funeral companies to manage the operation of their franchisees.
